    Frequently Asked Questions

Wendy Massage logo

No offense intended, but I must address this question first...

Do you offer Erotic or Sensual Massage, Sexual Release, or anything like that?

NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT! Let me be perfectly clear about this. I strictly provide professional therapeutic massage that is NON-SEXUAL and NON-SENSUAL in nature. There will be NO SEX INVOLVED WHATSOEVER, nor will there be any type of contact with anyone's genitals. I have the right to refuse to treat any area of a client's body and to terminate a therapy session if I feel a client is sexualizing the relationship, or if I feel adversely influenced or threatened in any way by the client or another individual present during therapy. The massage session will cease immediately and full payment will be due if any of the following occurs: sexual harassment, disrespectful verbal or physical conduct, inappropriate remarks or innuendo, or even the mention of erotic activity. I will also report all illicit inquiries or illegal behavior to local law enforcement authorities.

Wendy Marie provides Canine Massage
Dogs love Wendy Massage!

You massage DOGS too??

Yes, I sure do. Just as less invasive approaches to health care in humans have gained popularity in recent years, so too have these procedures and methods gained acceptance in the care and treatment of animals. And just as we have witnessed the recent advent of professionals like equine chiropractors, equine physical therapists, and equine nutritionists in the horse world, we are seeing these same professions develop in the “dog community."

Believe it or not, dogs have 700 muscles in their body that make up 45% of their overall body weight. Canine massage is the therapeutic application of hands-on deep tissue techniques to the voluntary muscle system for the purpose of increasing circulation, reducing muscle spasms, relieving tension, enhancing muscle tone, promoting healing, and increasing range of motion in all breeds of dogs. Massage therapy may also decrease symptoms of arthritis and alleviate pain caused by injuries or surgery. Learn more about canine massage on my pricing page.

Why do you call your business "Wendy Massage"?

Because that's who I am and what I do. It's a simple name that's kinda catchy and hard to forget, right? Besides, I hope it will make my clients wanna tell their family and friends, "The only thing better than a massage is a Wendy Massage!"

How much do you charge?

Check out my pricing page for my massage rates, therapy descriptions, and additional information. I guarantee that 60 minutes means a full hour of hands-on time. I won't treat you like those "massage mills" and only give you 45-50 minutes when you think you're paying for an hour. Prefer a 75 or 90-minute session? I'll definitely make sure you get the complete amount of time with my mobile massage therapy. And though gratuity is never required, like other service providers, I would greatly appreciate a tip if you are happy with the treatment you receive.

Can I pay with a credit card or check?

No, I don't take checks, credit/debit cards, or any payment apps (i.e., Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, etc.). In order to keep my operating costs down and my massage rates as low as possible for my clients, CASH is the ONLY form of payment I accept. Please make arrangements before your appointment to have cash on hand as payment will be due immediately following your therapy session.

Cash Only - No Credit Cards - No Tabs

Do you accept health insurance?

No, I do not bill directly to insurance companies. However, I can certainly provide you with a detailed receipt for insurance reimbursement. This means you would pay out of pocket at the time of service and submit the receipt to be reimbursed by your carrier at a later date. Contacting your insurance company directly is the best way to find out about your specific coverage and benefits. Please do so before your appointment in case you need a referral from your doctor to verify medical necessity.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, I am a Licensed Massage Therapist registered with the state of Florida (MA 43819). I also carry professional and general liability insurance coverage.

Where will the massage take place?

Unlike many other therapists, I do make house calls. Nowadays, most folks call it "mobile" massage, but I have also heard it referred to as at-home massage, house call massage, in-room massage, on-call massage, on-site massage, and traveling massage. Whichever term you use, it just means that I will bring all of my equipment (massage table or chair, oil, music, etc.) to your place. That way, you will not have to travel anywhere, wasting gas and spending your valuable time getting all stressed out in traffic. You simply relax and enjoy a professional massage in the comfort and privacy of your own home! I also offer convenient therapy at your office or place of business, hotel or vacation resort, party or special event, and just about any location you choose . . . as long as it is in Brevard County, Florida. I may even be able to provide therapeutic massage in a nursing home, assisted living facility, and convalescent or hospice care. A travel fee will be added to my standard massage rates whenever a client is located outside of the metropolitan Melbourne area. A parking fee may also apply if payment is required to park onsite. Please note that I do NOT provide services anywhere there is smoking or vaping since they are known health hazards and not conducive to promoting the therapeutic Benefits of Massage.

Mobile massage at your location

So, you offer massage therapy outside?

Yes, but it depends on the time of year. Since Florida has such extreme heat and unpredictable weather, I don't usually provide massage outdoors during the hurricane/rainy season (i.e., May through November). Not only can a storm strike out of nowhere, but massage therapy is physically demanding work; and it would be very unprofessional for me to perspire on my clients (gross!). So I limit any outside appointments to the cooler, calmer months of the year, which are usually December through April.

Will you massage me in my own bed instead of on your massage table?

No, and there are several reasons why I won't. First, a bed is a terrible place to provide massage. Mattresses are often too soft or too firm, sometimes with an uneven surface, and often, a bed is inaccessible from all four sides. That makes a client have to continually move and adjust position in order for a therapist to gain access to certain parts of the body. Second, a bed does not have a face cradle, like a massage table (or chair), so the client would need to turn his/her head back and forth when lying prone (face down), causing a stiff and sore neck in the process. That kinda defeats the purpose of massage, wouldn't you say? Third, and most importantly, a typical bed is not at the right height for a therapist to provide proper massage techniques and adequate pressure. A therapist's body position, mechanics, posture, and angle of administering massage are extremely important. Massage therapy is a very demanding profession with a wide variety of physical risk factors for the LMT, like fatigue, sprains/strains, and even back injury. Those risks increase dramatically when a therapist does not use a properly designed table or chair specifically intended for massage. NOTE: I may give special consideration and make a rare exception for a client who is in a nursing home, hospice, or palliative care. However, I would still be restricted as to the areas of the body I could massage, as well as how long or how much therapy I could provide. The actual amount of therapeutic value for the client may also be limited.

Would you use my own massage table (or chair) when you provide therapy to me?

No, because of safety concerns and liability reasons, I won't use anyone else's massage table or massage chair. I know for certain that my table and chair are made of the finest, professional-grade materials, personally and regularly inspected by me, and that they are properly maintained to ensure adequate strength, stability, and durability. I am also diligent in cleaning, disinfecting, and fully sterilizing all my equipment after each and every massage to prevent the transmittal of any germs, viruses, or bacteria.

How can I schedule an appointment?

Please call me at 321-266-9956 so we can chat for a few. Massages appointments for new, first-time clients are NOT scheduled via text message or email, and I only accept phone calls between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm EST. For general inquiries, please use my contact form and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

How much advance notice do I need to give to schedule a massage?

Same-day appointments are often not feasible because I am either booked or have already made other plans. I highly recommend at least 48 hours notice as my availability is limited, especially on weekends and holidays when I assist my husband with his mobile DJ business. I also have many clients who book massages regularly, so please request your appointment as far in advance as possible. Then if you need to cancel later or change the date, I'd appreciate you letting me know right away since I may have another client who is waiting for a cancellation.

Book your Wendy Massage early!

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that unanticipated events may happen on occasion, but I hope my clients also understand that my calendar dates are my inventory and they fill up quickly. In my efforts to be fair to everyone, I require 24 hours advance notice when canceling a massage appointment. That will allow me the opportunity to schedule another client who may be waiting for an opening. If you are unable to give a 24-hour notice, you will be charged the full amount of your massage time as a cancellation fee, which must then be paid before your next scheduled appointment starts. This policy also applies if a client forgets about or consciously chooses to forgo a massage appointment for any reason other than an emergency. I always confirm next-day appointments via call or text since I must load all my equipment and supplies in my car for travel. If a client does not respond to confirm an appointment within a reasonable amount of time, I reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee and schedule another client for that same appointment time. I also reserve the right to refuse treatment or terminate a therapy session if a client reveals any medical condition (before or after therapy begins) for which massage is contraindicated, or if a potentially harmful situation develops at the session location. In such a case, the full amount charged for the massage time will still be due as a cancellation fee. I always encourage my clients to consult their physician before receiving massage therapy. You may review all my policies and booking information on my pricing page.

How should I prepare for my first massage session?

After you schedule your appointment, and sometime before I arrive on that date, please print and complete my Health Consent Form. Let me know if you do not have a printer, or if you prefer to fill it out in person, and I will bring a paper copy with me to your location. I usually email the consent form to my new clients, along with additional information, like what to expect during your initial therapy session, as well as suggestions for before, during, and after your massage. For example, I recommend that you don't eat a large or heavy meal before your massage, and try to avoid sugar, caffeine, or other stimulants. If you do eat, make sure you give yourself at least one hour to digest the food. Any exercise you do on the day of your massage should be done beforehand. And you may also want to shower or bathe with hot water directly before your session to help start loosening any tight muscles you might have.

Can you play music during my massage?

Yes, customized relaxing music like this helps to create a calming, comforting atmosphere for your therapy session. I have the very best music available for massage, provided by my husband, DJ Dale Bryan, and played on my own portable sound system. I also offer other soothing sounds besides music (e.g., ocean waves, rain shower, white noise, etc.). Or if you prefer silence, that will be fine too. Please let me know what you would like when scheduling your appointment.

Am I expected to "chat" during my massage?

No, the decision to talk is entirely yours. Being quiet can enhance your relaxation during the massage and I understand and welcome that enhancement. But if you wish to chat, I will certainly accommodate you. During massages, I sometimes ask my clients questions pertaining to the therapy itself. It is also okay for you to ask questions and volunteer information that may improve your massage experience. Or you can just say nothing and enjoy the music!

Do I need to be undressed?

No, clients keep their clothes on for chair (seated) massage. Even for table massage, undressing is not required; but for the best results, it is recommended. You really do not need to worry, though, as I always cover my clients during their sessions. Like most professional massage therapists, I use full draping with a sheet (my linens or yours) and expose only the body part I am actually massaging. I believe your modesty can and should be preserved.

Even with draping, can I still leave my underclothes on?

Absolutely, feel free to undress to your own level of comfort. If a therapist tells you that you MUST take off all of your clothing, it's time to find another therapist!

Do I need to use my own sheets or anything else for the massage?

No, I always come prepared with fresh clean linens, but I will be happy to use your own sheets or towels if that will make you feel at ease or more comfortable. I also provide a professional quality Earthlite Massage Table (or Oakworks Portal Pro Massage Chair), relaxing music, and luxurious Jojoba oil for your skin.

100% pure golden Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis)
Lady enjoying a Wendy Massage

Why do you use Jojoba oil for massage therapy?

There are many reasons why I offer this amazing oil to my clients. Well, first, let me say that Jojoba is actually a wax ester, although it is referred to as oil. I only use 100% pure, unrefined, golden Jojoba extract (Simmondsia chinensis) that is expeller pressed from pesticide-free Jojoba seeds (or beans). I believe it is the very best lubricant available to facilitate various massages as it refreshes the skin and soothes sore muscles.

Jojoba is light, non-greasy, and absorbs very well, which enables a massage therapist to work on a client's skin for more extended periods than other oils with little need for frequent reapplication. Jojoba is non-allergenic, so it can be used on any client without fear of an allergic reaction. It can also be used on any skin type and it is non-comedogenic, which means it won't clog pores, so it’s perfect for clients who are prone to acne or breakouts.

Jojoba is rich in vitamins A, E, D, and B-complex, minerals such as zinc, iodine, and selenium, as well as antioxidants and fatty acids. Plus, it’s naturally antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, analgesic (pain-relieving), and anti-inflammatory. The molecular structure of Jojoba is similar to sebum, the natural oils on human skin, so it can influence and help regulate the oil production of our skin. That is why Jojoba is a natural aid in acne and can actually heal very dry skin or damaged hair.

Yes, Jojoba is more costly than the massage oils used by most other therapists, but I don't mind. It's just part of the business expenses I incur in order to pamper my clients with The Ultimate Experience in Mobile Massage Therapy!™

Of course, if you prefer something other than Jojoba for your massage, I also offer pure, fractionated coconut oil, which is readily absorbed and fine for most body types. Aromatherapy scents, like lavender, may also be added if requested prior to your appointment.

Will the massage be painful?

No, Swedish Massage should not be a painful experience. It has actually been shown to help reduce pain and joint stiffness and promote increased circulation. Deep Tissue Massage may be uncomfortable at times, especially if you already have sore muscles or pain in certain areas of your body. But you can get great results from massage therapy without pain, so please let me know if the pressure I use causes you any discomfort whatsoever.

I bruise easily; can I still get a massage?

Yes, but you should definitely let me know that you bruise easily and why (i.e., medications, medical conditions, etc.). The pressure and technique of your massage can be adjusted to prevent or minimize bruising.

Can massage help me with pain from my medical condition?

Oftentimes it can. There are many benefits of massage therapy. Massage may help to lessen or eliminate pain stemming from a wide range of medical conditions that include: fibromyalgia, lupus, myofascial pain syndrome, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, TMJ pain, migraines, and many other aches and pains. However, massage may be contraindicated for certain medical conditions. So, be sure to tell me what you are seeking relief from, and please consult your physician before receiving massage therapy.

How will I feel after receiving massage therapy?

Most people feel very relaxed, yet energized. Occasionally, clients will experience dizziness or feel lightheaded immediately following a massage. Be sure to drink plenty of water to flush out any toxins that were released from your muscles.

If you received deep tissue bodywork, you may experience muscle soreness or fatigue the next day. This is completely normal and does not usually last longer than 24 hours. Please be sure to tell me if you feel any discomfort or pain right after the massage, or if you experience soreness that lasts longer than one day.

Benefits of Wendy Massage

How often should I have massage therapy?

The frequency of your massages is strictly up to you or your physician/health care provider. Most of my clients schedule bi-weekly or monthly, but you may get a massage as often as you wish.

Do you have massage gift certificates available?

Yes, a Wendy Massage Gift Certificate is a truly touching gift (pun intended) that will be personalized to say whatever you want. You can purchase a table massage for that special someone to last up to 90 minutes. I offer convenient and environmentally-friendly digital gift certificates sent to you via a hyperlink (URL). Then you can simply share that link by email, text message, live chat, or social media. You could even print the gift certificate if you would like to present it in person. Best of all, you can pay me later at the therapy session like you would for a regular massage, which makes this a great option if you're not sure when the appointment will be scheduled or if you need a last-minute gift idea. Just give me a call or complete the form here and I will make sure you have your touching gift as soon as possible!
